It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are the only things left for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their hitters to hold a record if not provided the opportunity.

Finally, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to create her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her debut and seven international trophies have come from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this knock came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it was a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive nature kick in and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and after that Healy was underway.

"An opportunity to go out there and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was removed the team required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, should it happen, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup want to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph coming after win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at an important competition.

So great is her will, she later said she wished she had played through the pain.

However although she afterwards confessed those physical issues have postponed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is expected to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as captain.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
